New Year's Resolutions.

Breakfast: Corned Beef Hash and Eggs

Current Read:  A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith

Since it is a new year there always has to be resolutions.  I have made a few for myself this year, one of them being to read more often.  This past year I had trouble really getting into my reading.  I would bring my books with me everywhere but I would always end up just looking at my phone or watching a movie instead.  I really want to get back into the passion of reading and enjoying the stories and characters like I had done the previous year.

In addition to my reading resolution, there are certain genres and series that I want to start and finish.  December 2012 I started reading Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, but I could not get into it.  My family kept telling just watch the show instead you don't need to read the books.  But I really do want to read the books and I would like to finish the Game of Thrones as well as the other books in A Song of Ice and Fire series.  Along the lines of fantasy series,  I read The Hobbit a while ago and have yet to start the Lord of the Rings series by J. R. R. Tolkien.  Those I have seen the films so I somewhat know what to expect in the series.  As for genres I want to start reading more poetry and memoirs.

For this year, the books I have on my TBR list are The Giver by Lois Lowry,  Extras by Scott Westerfield, the last book in the Uglies series,  Neil Patrick Harris Choose Your Own Autobiography,  and Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan.  There are a lot more on my bookshelves but these are the ones for sure I want to have read.

Happy New Year and Happy Reading!

Welcome.

Breakfast:  Peppermint Hot Chocolate and Morning Bun from Starbucks

Current Read:  A Spell For Chameleon by Piers Anthony

Hello! Welcome.

I have wanted to start this blog for some time now and I am finally doing it.  It is going to be mainly about books and things having to do with literature but it may also contain some other little bits and pieces.  I am a huge fan of books and reading and always thought if I were to go back to school I would want to study English.

This first post is going to short and simple.  Every one will start with what I had for breakfast and the current book I am reading.  This last year I did not read as much as the previous year.  I have made a pledge to ready 25 books this year.  Hopefully this will be fun and entertaining and a very good year.
